I surf.

I f*ck.

I pretend to smile.

Two years ago my life was perfect, until it wasn't. I scattered my wife's ashes then walked away from the Marines. I didn't think I had anything left to lose.

I was wrong.

The blonde showed up on my doorstep beaten and stabbed. I did what I was trained to do—I stitched her up. I didn't have a clue who she was and I told myself I didn't care. Until they came looking for her.

I swore I'd take my last breath before I let anyone else hurt her, except I didn't know she was keeping a deadly secret. Now I had two choices, her life or mine.

Marriage and combat taught me the same thing—I was no one's hero. And I was about to prove it.

This book has so many twist and turns. Just when you think you have something figured out it changes directions. Definitely a must read and I will be reading all the rest of books from this series.

There are two details in the book that completely ruin the whole series and I just can't make myself overlook them. First, once a Marine, always a Marine. You don't refer to them as Ex-. The proper terminology is "Former Marine". Calling them Ex- is so disrespectful and demeaning. Shame on you! Second, I don't care what brand of 9mm handgun you have, you are not putting a "clip" into it. The correct terminology is "magazine". A clip and a magazine are two completely different things! Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable gun range to get educated. It is details like this that irk the crap out of me and totally ruin a story.

I thought this book was well written. I started reading it on an airplane coming back to kc mo. from Seattle Washington. I’m glad I started reading it on the plane cause I’m afraid of flying. This book got my attention almost immediately and as I read the thought of being on a plane was in the background of my mind. I really enjoyed how I could understand talons thoughts and feelings in grave detail. I realized how men hold back soo much emotion, which before I read this book I had a feeling they did. This book shows how men can seem so manly on the outside when they are really crumbling on the inside. I enjoyed the story about the bike gang and the cartel it was intense and it was hard for me to put the book down the suspense kept me wanting to read more. I enjoyed how realistic it was with the graphic detail about sirens scars and how they found her daughter and when the two were brought together I actually cried being a mother myself. I loved that it had a happy ending for all of them. I plan to read lots more of these series. Thank you for sharing to the author.
